Maverick, noun, /ˈmæv.ɚ.ɪk/ a person who thinks and acts in an independent way, often behaving differently from the expected or usual way. Mavericks is a condensed small caps serif with focus on strength and power. Creating Halla was a bit unusual for me since I started out creating the italic version first and that inspired the name Halla, meaning to tilt in Icelandic. It is also a fairly common female name in Iceland. “Halla” is derived from old Norse word “hallr” = 'flat stone, rock' or 'sloping, leaning to one side' Halla is a true italic inspired by handwriting and mechanical type. The combination of Light and Italic makes Halla ideal for advertising, branding, signage, packaging and editorial design.

Created by Swedish designer Bo Berndal in 1999, Linotype Dala Text can best be described as a softer, friendlier blackletter. Blackletter refers to typefaces that evolve out of Northern Europe's medieval manuscript tradition. Often called gothic, or Old English, these letters are identified by the traces of the wide-nibbed pen stroke within their forms. Linotype Dala Text most resembles the fraktur type of blackletter. Fraktur types were popular text faces in Northern Europe until the 20th century. Inspired by Swedish folklore, this fraktur is much softer and rounder than most examples. Its connection to the Scandinavian folkloric tradition makes Linotype Dala perfectly suited for such texts as fairy tales, medieval stories, and other things that might appeal to a child's sense of adventure. To strengthen the medieval fairy tale look, use Linotype Dala Text together with other elements of the Linotype Dala family: Library's Linotype Dala Pict and Linotype Dala Border. The characters in these two supplementary fonts were inspired by medieval and renaissance folk art, and were also drawn by Bo Berndal, making them a perfect match. This unusual take on a typical woodtype typeface is based on a 1950s Stenso lettering template and, appropriately, takes its name from a small town in Texas not far from Dallas, locally noted for its grand Victorian homes.

An unordinary type of family: Novo Alla is part of the Novo Family (together with Novo Alla, Bila, Cela, Dada, Enno, Fika and Gigo). Although all members are also strong individuals, Novo Family is an exclusive selection which allows you to design beautiful typographic combinations. The Novo Family will take typography into a next phase of legibility.

ITC Bailey Sans is the first typeface family created by Kevin Bailey, a graphic designer in Dallas, Texas. He was once looking for an understated block serif for a design project and could find nothing suitable. Bailey began working on his own serif face but then found that the basics of his new design worked well as a sans serif and continued on that track. ITC Bailey Sans font is available in four weights: book, book italic, bold and bold italic and even has a companion serif display font, ITC Baily Quad Bold.

Meyer Two captures the early Hollywood flavor and nostalgia of silent-film intertitles. From 1922 through 1928, Mergenthaler Linotype cut five fonts to Louis B. Meyer’s personal specifications. Meyer Two, drawn in 1926, curiously combines Cleland’s ATF Della Robbia capitals of 1902 with lowercase and figures from ATF Post Monotone No. 2, also from the same period. Meyer Two was revived, with a Condensed added, by David Berlow; FB 1994

Donatello is a classically proportioned design with subtly tapered strokes, inspired by the lettering on the fifteenth century cantoria by Luca della Robbia in the Museum of the Duomo, in Florence. The design, consisting of caps and small caps, also includes Donatello Alternates -- a compatible set of wider characters. It was designed by Paul Shaw and Garrett Boge in 1997. Donatello is part of the LetterPerfect Florentine Set.

A modern calligraphy typeface with a playful yet elegant style, inspired by Mozart’s “Rondo Alla Turca” and his other compositions played with allegretto tempo. The font contains more than 1000 glyphs. Each letter in the typeface has few different swashes that can be accessed via glyphs panel of your opentype-aware application such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, MS Word.

Abitare Sans was originally commissioned by the group Rizzoli Corriere della Sera. It’s a typeface of 30 weights designed to be used in Abitare magazine. The request of the president Mario Piazza was a new CP Company with some redesigned glyphs, but the result is a radical evolution of its concept being intended to be used as a font for text far more readable. In Abitare Sans the geometric structure was kept without neglecting the numerous editorial requirements.

Linotype Maral is based on an historic Armenian typeface which was originally designed by Henrik Mnatsakanyan. Hrant Papazian has revieved and digitized this four weight type family . Armenian keyboard drivers for Mac OS 9 (and under) as well as for Windows are included when any of the Linotype Maral fonts are purchased. These drivers must be installed before the fonts may be used properly. Linotype Maral will not function properly under Mac OS X, unless you are using the OpenType-format version, which does not work under OS 9! The Linotype Maral family includes four fonts: Linotype Maral Regular, Linotype Maral Oblique, Linotype Maral Bold, Linotype Maral Bold Oblique. The Armenian language is written with its own script. Gia is 7 weights, true small caps and unicase options, designed after iconic letterforms of the 1960’s to 1980’s. In the early years of the American tech revolution, when Silicon Valley was more closely identified with Dallas, Texas, a curious type of letterform began to appear—strict in geometry, and curiously minimal in geometry and stroke, making it easier to be read by machine-readers, and people more used to reading machine-generated typography. Coders! As the years went on, this kind of sinewy, curved letterform began popping up in logotypes and music videos and upright video games: NASA, The Buggles, Atari, Pong, Sega, Namco, Stern, Devo, Apple. Gia pays homage to that letterform, and is named after Gia Carangi, the iconic face of early 1980’s pop fashion.

DonnaBodoni was inspired by David Farey. He once wrote, somebody should honor the widow of Giambattista Bodoni the brave Signora Paola Margherita Dall 'Aglio for her effort to have the Manuale tipografico di Giambattista Bodoni published after his death. Since I have redesigned a good deal of Bodoni’s work and added some of my own, I thought it was my duty to do at least this for Bodoni’s unknown widow. Here is my 3-cut script in her honor.
